Affecting 10-30% of babies between 4 & 8 weeks old, colic has no actual medical cause however it can be one of the most distressing and frustrating periods new parents go through. The symptoms of colic are
Inconsolable crying (usually in the evening)
Drawing the legs up to the chest
High pitched screaming several times a week
It usually starts and stops with no obvious cause and may go on for hours into the night which makes it really difficult for already tired parents.
You might feel helpless, upset that nothing you seem to do seems to help your little one to feel better. As there is no defined medical cause, there isn’t really a defined treatment path either, we are left to trial and error to see what might work. There are plenty of old wives tales and advice available from well-meaning friends and family, but who do you believe and what do you try?
I have put this course together as a Mum who has been through the experience of having a baby with colic but also as a professional sleep coach and infant massage instructor with the aim of providing you with a one-stop-shop for all the tips and advice that should help you through this really tough period.
